Job Opportunity: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PRODUCER

We’re looking for a skilled and imaginative Community Engagement Producer to join the creative team behind Anatomy of Solidarity — a participatory arts project exploring community, care, and collective action.

Freelance, Short-Term Contract
📍 Location: Bristol (Hybrid: in-person and remote)
🗓 Timeline: August 2025 – February 2026 (approx. 2–3 days/week, flexible)
💰 Fee: £10,000 – £12,000 (depending on experience and availability)


About the Role

Working closely with the Community Engagement Project Manager and our wider team, you’ll help translate community voices and research into meaningful artistic outputs. From shaping participatory processes to curating public presentations, you’ll ensure the values of equity, inclusion, and solidarity are central throughout.

This role is perfect for someone with experience in socially engaged practice, community-led storytelling, or interdisciplinary performance.


Key Responsibilities

✨ Creative Development & Curation

  • Co-develop creative processes with artists, community members, and facilitators.
  • Shape the project’s aesthetic and thematic direction, ensuring accessibility and artistic integrity.
  • Curate stories, materials, and artistic outputs for public sharing (e.g. exhibitions, performances, film).
  • Support creative workshops by offering structure, inspiration, or facilitation approaches.

🤝 Collaboration & Partnerships

  • Work with the Project Manager to align engagement activity with creative outcomes.
  • Guide artists and facilitators in delivering community-facing work with care and clarity.
  • Create feedback loops between participants and the artistic team.

🌍 Public Engagement & Presentation

  • Help design inclusive and innovative ways to share project findings and artworks.
  • Collaborate with the documentary team and communications lead to represent community voices ethically and creatively.
  • Contribute to the planning of public events and installations, ensuring cohesion and impact.

📝 Documentation & Reflection

  • Assist in capturing creative processes, outcomes, and lessons learned.
  • Support evaluation, focusing on creative impact and participant voice.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience in community-led or socially engaged arts projects.
  • Sensitivity and awareness when working across cultures, generations, and access needs.
  • Strong creative or curatorial instincts, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with co-creation, participatory methods, or decolonial practice.

Desirable

  • Background in theatre, performance, storytelling, or interdisciplinary arts.
  • Experience curating events, exhibitions, or installations.
  • Knowledge of Bristol’s arts and community landscape.

Contract & Terms

  • Location: Based in Bristol, with some flexibility for remote working.
  • Timeline: August 2025 – February 2026 (approx. 2–3 days per week, flexible).
  • Fee: £10,000 – £12,000 (inclusive of planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting).
  • Expenses: Reasonable travel and materials costs reimbursed with receipts.
